Shropshire Restore & Reconnect Expedition 2025

Step into the heart of the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where rolling green landscapes, peaceful valleys, and open skies invite you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect. The Carding Mill Valley — a jewel of this region — offers the perfect gateway to the Long Mynd, a sweeping plateau that inspires awe with its far-reaching views and serene stillness.

Once home to a 19th-century wool mill, Carding Mill Valley is now a National Trust treasure — a place where streams tumble over rocks, wild ponies graze freely, and time seems to move at the rhythm of nature. It’s here that we’ll pause from the noise of daily life to restore our energy, renew our intentions, and reconnect — with ourselves, our families, and our Creator.

This expedition with Muslim Family Adventures is more than just a walk through nature — it’s a journey of renewal and gratitude. Through Qur’an-inspired reflections, meaningful conversations, and shared moments under the open sky, we’ll rediscover the harmony between the soul and the natural world.

Accommodation

Our base for the expedition is the Wilderhope Manor, a beautifully preserved National Trust property set in the rolling hills of Shropshire. This 16th-century Elizabethan manor house, built from local stone, offers a truly atmospheric stay — combining rustic charm with modern comfort. Surrounded by open countryside and breathtaking views, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration. With its grand hall, cosy common areas, and peaceful rural setting, Wilderhope Manor provides the ideal environment for reflection, warmth, and connection — a space where history, nature, and tranquillity meet.

The entire centre has been exclusively reserved for MFA, ensuring that all facilities are dedicated solely for our use throughout the expedition.

  • The Shropshire Hills Restore & Reconnect Expedition blends gentle adventure with mindful restoration. Together we’ll embark on a guided hike through Carding Mill Valley, following the stream to the waterfall and climbing up to the Long Mynd summit for breathtaking views across the hills. Along the way, our reflection stops will draw on Qur’anic verses and Prophetic teachings that awaken mindfulness and gratitude for Allah’s creation.

Families will enjoy nature walks, stream exploration, and team challenges designed to build trust, reflection, and connection. As night falls, we’ll set out for a peaceful night walk and stargazing experience, witnessing the Milky Way in Shropshire’s pristine dark skies — a humbling reminder of the vastness and beauty of Allah’s universe. ✨

We’ll then gather around the campfire for stories, reflection, and du‘a under the stars, creating a space to recharge both heart and spirit.

  • At the heart of the adventure-retreat is communal self-catering, where everyone comes together to prepare and enjoy meals as one big family. MFA will provide fresh, organic, and local ingredients wherever possible, and the group will prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This shared experience is about more than food—it’s about bonding, sharing skills, and creating unforgettable memories.

    Breakfast

We will prepare nourishing breakfasts on Days 2 and 3, including eggs, tuna, cheese, beans, bread, cereals, spreads, fruits, and hot drinks.

Adults will work in teams to prepare themed dinner on Days 2:

Families will handle their own dinner on Day 1.

    Refreshments

Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate will be available throughout your stay.
