Surrounded by woodlands, open green spaces, and the historic charm of Margam Castle, it offers the ideal balance of comfort and nature, whether you’re unwinding after summiting Pen y Fan or simply enjoying moments of stillness and connection together.

Planned Programme

🌿 Day 1 – Arrival, Grounding & Connection

Arrive at Margam Country Park and settle into the peaceful surroundings of the Margam Discovery Centre. We’ll begin with a gentle walk through the park, taking in the natural beauty and easing into the retreat. As the group gathers, we’ll come together for our first jama’ah prayer, followed by an opening circle to set intentions and connect as one family. The evening will be centred around communal cooking and shared meals, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere to begin the journey.

🏔️ Day 2 – The Pen y Fan Challenge

Today we take on the iconic ascent of Pen y Fan — a powerful physical and spiritual challenge. As we hike together through the breathtaking landscapes of Brecon Beacons National Park, there will be moments for reflection, reminders, and supporting one another through the climb. At the summit, we pause to take in the views, make du’a, and reconnect with purpose. We’ll pray together along the journey and return in the evening for a well-earned meal, rest, and reflection as a group.

💧 Day 3 – Waterfalls, Reflection & Stillness

We head into the heart of Waterfall Country for the famous waterfalls walk, including the unforgettable experience of walking behind Sgwd yr Eira. Surrounded by flowing water and lush greenery, this day offers a slower pace — perfect for deeper reflection, reminders, and meaningful conversations. We’ll pause for prayer in nature, reconnecting with Allah amidst His creation. For those who wish, we’ll also visit Henrhyd Falls before returning for another evening of shared cooking, food, and connection.

🌊 Day 4 – Coastline & Departure

On our final day, we journey to the stunning Three Cliffs Bay, where dramatic cliffs, flowing rivers, and open sea create a breathtaking setting. We’ll take a relaxed walk, gather for a closing reminder, and pray together one last time as a group. This is a moment to reflect on the journey, the connections built, and the experiences shared. We depart feeling refreshed, recharged, and connected — carrying the impact of the retreat beyond the mountains.

Food Arrangement

At the heart of the adventure-retreat is communal self-catering, where everyone comes together to prepare and enjoy meals as one big family. MFA will provide fresh, organic, and local ingredients wherever possible, and the group will prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This shared experience is about more than food—it’s about bonding, sharing skills, and creating memories.

Breakfast

We will prepare nourishing breakfasts on Days 2, 3 and 4, including eggs (boiled, scrambled, fried), baked beans, mushrooms, mixed vegetables, toast, milk, cereals, spreads, and hot drinks.

Lunch

Each family will prepare their own packed lunches (tuna or cheese sandwiches, and fruits) using the communal groceries.

Dinner

We will work in teams to prepare themed dinners on Days 2 and 3:

  • Day 2: Arab/Turkish-inspired chicken dishes

  • Day 3: Asian-inspired lamb dishes

Families will handle their own dinner on Day 1.

Refreshments

Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate will be available throughout your stay.

Kitchen Facilities

The fully fitted industrial kitchen is equipped with all the essentials we need to prepare delicious meals, including a wide range of pots, pans, utensils, cutlery, and crockery. It offers plenty of space for us to cook comfortably. Additionally, we'll find ample refrigerator and freezer facilities to store our ingredients and keep our food fresh throughout our stay.
